Joining the Lions Club will allow you to become a part of a community of like-minded individuals who regularly donate their time to help your local area. Although applications from all community members are encouraged, membership in a Lions Club is by invitation only.
Lions are having a significant impact in our communities by helping the leaders of tomorrow through our youth programs and by coming together during natural disasters.
We are always looking for new talent. With new talent comes fresh ideas, fresh thinking and fresh approaches. Please get in touch if you’d like to get to know more.

Are there any other hidden expenses I will incur through membership?
You will receive invitations to Club and Zone-level events, which are completely optional. Typically, dinners at these events are priced according to market rates. The member sets the fine amount, with the proceeds going toward administrative expenses.

Time Commitment
It goes without saying that joining the Lions club will take up some of your time, but your family and job should always come first. You then donate as much time as you can. Every month, all members are invited to the business meeting. Additionally, each committee has a monthly meeting. All year round, social gatherings take place.
How do you choose which fundraising activities to organise?
Most of our funds are generated by the Book Den. We do run other events each year and any member can make a suggestion. These suggestions are either approved or rejected by the club membership.
How do we distribute the funds?
Members agree on which good causes should receive the funds. The welfare committee meet once a month to discuss recommendations, which are then brought up at the following business meeting. When a vote is carried out among club members, the agreed-upon amount is donated to the deserving causes. Formally, the donations are approved by the trustees.
Where do you funds get distributed?
Supporting worthy or underprivileged initiatives in the Burgess Hill region is given first priority. Members of the Club approve the allocation of some cash to Lions International causes. The boundaries of the Lions Movement’s donation area are nonexistent. Every application or proposal is given individual consideration.
What social activities does the club hold?
Actually, promoting a variety of social events for members, family, and friends is a component of our ideology. For the benefit of the members, the Burgess Hill District Lions Social Secretary plans dinners, visits, outings, etc. These events could take place in collaboration with other Lions Clubs. The prices are always comparable to those of any other social function.
