Mission Statement

To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organisation with 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in 208 countries.

The International Association of Lions Clubs was founded in America in 1917. So 2017 was the Centenary of Lions Clubs International and all Lions Clubs put on events to celebrate this centenary - see our Club's event here.

Now, with 1.4 million members in 46,000 clubs in 208 countries worldwide, it is the world's largest and most active Service Club Organisation.

The Lions motto is "WE SERVE" and its mission statement reads "To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international co-operation".

Our aim is to help the less fortunate in our society with our activities concentrating on the needs of the local community. We raise money for local, national and international projects and participate in service activities to all age groups. In addition to assisting others, we organise various social events for our members and have fun.

LCIF is the Lions Club International Foundation, the official charitable Foundation of Lions Clubs International, and brings help, hope and healing to the world. Grant funding is awarded to Lions districts worldwide for large-scale humanitarian projects that address community needs.

The Foundation's mission is to support the efforts of Lions clubs worldwide in serving their local communities and the world community as they carry out essential humanitarian service projects. Through LCIF, Lions tackle global problems such as blindness and hearing loss and respond to major catastrophes such as earthquakes and floods. Currently they are supporting communities in Australia, New Zealand and Japan following their recent disasters.

Lions are men and women who volunteer their time for humanitarian causes. Founded in 1917 by Melvin Jones, our motto is "We Serve".
